Danmarks Radio (DR) [The Danish Broadcasting Corporation] writes of ‘Receiver’: "A glassy, sparkling egg in highly-polished stainless steel, six metres in length, 3.5 meters high, and with a 19-metre high antenna has finally found its permanent place in front of the large studio buildings of DR Byen [DR City] at Emil Holms Kanal.

The gleaming ‘Receiver’ captures and mirrors its surroundings. At night, the blue screen is mirrored in a very special way in the sculpture’s highly-polished steel, and, in the daytime, it looks as though the sky has been pulled down into ‘Receiver’ through the tall antenna.

Back in 2005, DR applied for and received support from the Danish Arts Foundation for an artistic ornamentation of DR Byen’s outside areas. It was a unanimous decision for this task to be undertaken by the German artists’ group ‘inges idee’ with the work 'Receiver'. The sculpture has been something of a challenge in craftsmanship for the artistic collective, which had to go all the way to Taiwan to have the large sculpture realised in just the right way in the finest polished steel at a price that was reasonable. Its subsequent freightage to Denmark by ship also took a while.

The artistic collective inges idee has existed since 1992, and it consists of the artists Hans Hemmert from Berlin, Axel Lieber from Malmö, Thomas Schmidt from Cologne, and Georg Zay from Berlin. Today, the group’s artworks are displayed, among other places, at Hamamatsu University in Japan, the DEKA Bank in Luxembourg, Place Jean Jaurès in Paris, and various places in Germany."
