Every year, the Danish Arts Foundation buys works created by the very best Danish contemporary artists and artisans in order to lend them to public buildings such as hospitals and high schools. If you are a public institution, you can borrow art of any kind – from striking sculptures and colourful paintings to stories told through photography and other media.
Every year, the Danish Arts Foundation helps to make art happen in public spaces – at schools, in parks and in squares. In such works, artists respond directly to the place, working in close collaboration with the Danish Arts Foundation and the institution or local community where the project will unfold.
The Danish Arts Foundation has worked with art in public spaces since 1954 – at hospitals and in schools, libraries, city settings and parks. The same objective applies now as it did so many decades ago: to give everyone in Denmark – including children, the young, the old, the sick and the criminal – the opportunity to experience quality art, design and crafts right where they live and work.
You can borrow works of all kinds from the Danish Arts Foundation – experimental prints, brightly coloured paintings, striking sculptures and art you can walk on, drink from, warm yourself under. Applications are welcomed from public institutions that are accessible to members of the general public. Examples include city halls, hospitals, schools, NGOs and embassies.
